What is a Boiler?

In its most simple terms, a boiler is a pressurized heating vessel that uses gas or electricity to heat water in order to heat air or steam. The fluid inside of the boiler does not necessarily boil. The heated (or vaporized) fluid exits the boiler and is used for various heating/sanitation/power generating processes.

Why is it important to perform regular maintenance on a boiler?

  • Boilers can break due to age, user error, faulty equipment, or using parts with the incorrect capacity for your specific usage.

  • Regular maintenance will increase the longevity of your boiler, save on more expensive repairs, and help businesses operate equipment safely.

Which businesses use a boiler and why?

  • Dry cleaners use boilers to produce heat for steam to clean garments.
  • Hotels use boilers for hot water, climate control, and swimming pools.
  • Schools use boilers for hot water, dehumidification, and reheating classrooms.
  • Lumber yards use boilers for heating of vats to pretreat lumber.
  • Hospitals use boilers to produce steam for sanitizing medical equipment and dehumidify patient rooms.

I need a boiler. Can T&W help me?

We can install boilers! In addition to our regular maintenance services, we can perform a legal, up-to-code installation.

Boilers need to be inspected by the fire marshal, make sure piping is up to code, guarantee adequate feed water and blowdown, and safe discharge. We are licensed to install boilers and handle all the initial paperwork with the fire marshal.
